The Location Overlay Widget adds a dynamic dimension to your live streams by showcasing the real-time location of the streamer on an interactive map. This tool allows viewers to gain insights into the streamer's whereabouts, facilitating interactions such as chat-guided directions or suggesting nearby places. By collecting location data through an open dashboard on a device, such as a mobile phone, and periodically updating the server, the Location Overlay provides an accurate and engaging representation of the streamer's position.

1. Displaying the Location Overlay on Your Stream

Integrate the Location Overlay seamlessly into your live stream using these steps:

  1. In the Kickable dashboard, navigate to the "Widgets" section.

  2. Find the "Location Overlay" widget and press Copy URL.

Using OBS to Display the Location Overlay
  1. Open OBS (Open Broadcaster Software), a popular streaming software.

  2. In OBS, create a new browser source for the Location Overlay Widget:

    • Right-click in the "Sources" section of OBS and select "Add" > "Browser."

    • Name the source (e.g., "Kickable Location Overlay") and click "OK."

    • In the properties window for the new browser source, paste the copied URL from the Kickable dashboard.

Note: For this widget to work, You are required to configure and then save the widget's settings.

2. Widget Features and Settings

The Location Overlay Widget offers a range of features designed to enhance viewer engagement and interactivity:

  • Interactive Map: Display the streamer's real-time location on an interactive map, providing viewers with a clear understanding of the geographical context.

3. Widget Settings

  • Update Frequency (in Seconds): Set the frequency at which the application reports the streamer's location to the server. This setting influences how often the map is updated.

  • Tracking (Boolean): Enable tracking to ensure the streamer's location is continuously reported to the server for accurate updates. Users must grant the site access to their location.

  • Visibility (Boolean): Toggle the visibility of the widget to decide whether the map should be displayed on your stream. This offers streamers the option to hide the map for safety or privacy reasons.

  • Theme: Choose between a Light or Dark theme for the map's appearance, aligning with your stream's aesthetics.

4. Real-Time Tracking and Access

To ensure accurate real-time updates of your location:

  • Enable Tracking: The "Tracking" setting must be turned on to enable continuous location reporting to the server.
